My name is Lee South, on July 29th my Wife, Michele of 33 years, who is 58 years old was on her way to work when an individual behind her ran their pickup truck into the truck she was driving. Though the impact appeared to be insignificant, she pulled over to the shoulder to exchange insurance information. The person that hit her, also pulled over, parking in front of her. As she got out of her truck, the other driver who appeared to be between 25 to 30 years old was already at the top of their voice screaming at her as if she were the offender. Before she could even mention an exchange of information, He used both of his hands to purposely and brutally push her so hard that when she hit the ground both of her wrists were instantly broken. once she was laying painfully on the ground, he turned and ran to his truck. He jumped inside and sped away. This left my wife needing to crawl back to her truck using her broken wrists to secure her cell phone to dial 911. The ambulance took her to the hospital where she had to have two operations so they could install steal supports into each of her wrist. Thankfully, she only had to stay in the hospital for three days. Unfortunately, we are only starting to understand what her needs for therapy shall be. Their talking physical therapy as well as Occupational and physiologically. She may physically recover within the next three to four months. It is far too early to guess about financially and / or traumatically. Unfortunately, I am of little help to her as I suffered a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) in a work-related accident during 2015. Therefore, I only bring in my Social Security Disability. We have never before had to ask for help, hand-outs or welfare assistance of any sort. Yet it is obvious that the actions of the young and foolish assailant who assaulted my Michele could end up causing us much more than we ever would have allowed ourselves to become indebted to. It is possible, if not probable that my Michele may not be able to recover enough to return to work again. In one way it would be a blessing as I have had to be home alone for the past ten years. Yet, in the end it could cost us everything that we have worked for. Not only did I grow up in a military home, I am also a U.S. ARMY veteran so you have got to understand that asking for help or assistance of any sort is more than a humbling experience. Nonetheless, there is no valor in needlessly falling on the sword. We shall be praying for the direction and wisdom of God’s leading for any persons who shall be compelled to assist us in this unforeseeable time of need. May each of you be blessed.
